My original thought of doing oversized comic book art although well intended was NOT well received! They wanted an ocean scape…*weird face* That’s really not my thing, BUT that’s what they want and it is their room after all!
To compromise we settled on a ocean themed search and find! Let me tell you, these kids can negotiate! They have a lot of their father in them lol . SO I started this morning and got to work on the easy part! Drawing the whole thing out. I know some of the images look a little funky but when I come in with the paint you will never know.
I didn’t have the heart to kick Arty off so there he is! I know its really big.. I might trim it down later. I haven’t decided if I’m going to build a frame for the whole thing or just brace it on the top or bottom yet so depending on the size of the space I have to work with in our next house I will trim it up accordingly.
Here are a few close up shots. I’m trying to incorporate things that all 3 of them are in to. I have mermaids, fairies, triceratops, brachiosaurus and all manner of sea creatures. the hard part will be painting it…It’s so big and there are so many little things that need to be distinguishable. It will take some time to get it all done but I figured it will give me something to do for the next few months so I don’t obsess too much over the next move. AND it will help Sophie get more excited about her *NEW* bedroom! She is NOT excited about leaving this house. She will be fine, we aren’t going far but I want her to focus on the positive and this is something she can help with!
I loved search and finds as a kid and to have one at this scale I’m hoping they will have it quite some time before they find everything in it!
As you can see I still have a few spots that are still bare so probably tonight I will go back through and fill it in a bit! Soon I will start painting it!
This is what I was thinking for the background color, Fading from light green/ dark green to blue at the top. Then over all for the coral, clams and hidden objects I just want it really bright! We shall see though what Sophie says about that! She has her own opinions.
